Switchboard operators must work with complex commercial systems to forward internal, outgoing or incoming calls. They must be the first person with whom callers speak and must be able to communicate company information effectively.

Job responsibilities
  • Answer all incoming calls, provide relevant information to the caller and transfer the call to the appropriate source if necessary
  • Voice transmission and other messages in the appropriate location within the organization, which may involve writing the caller's number and providing it to the person
  • Organize conference calls in the meeting room and at the same time make sure the room is completely clean for executives
  • Perform various word processing responsibilities, which may include reviewing documents before sending them or updating the company's address book
  • Receive all corporate mail and deliver it to the right person.
  • Record voicemail messages for the company's telephone system, including messages indicating when the office will be closed for vacation
  • Perform routine maintenance on the switchboard system or contact an external contractor to visit the office and repair the system when necessary.
  • Perform other administrative tasks, such as faxing, scheduling appointments, and requesting multiple supplies.
